Song Of The Day is “Rape Me” by Nirvana. This song was written by Kurt Cobain in order to send a message to his listeners. He wanted everyone to stop trying to search for the deeper meaning behind their lyrics. “Over the last few years, people have had such a hard time understanding what our message is, what we're trying to convey, that I just decided to be as bold as possible,” said Cobain.
When they released the album, In Utero, Cobain’s attempt to be bold caused the band to receive an overwhelming amount of backlash because of “Rape Me”, as the song seemed to encourage the idea of rape. But Cobain’s intent was quite the opposite, he wrote the song in a way that “supported women and dealt with the issue of rape.” And he wrote it in the point of view of “a woman who is being raped, who is infuriated with the situation . . . it's like ‘Go ahead, rape me, just go for it, because you're gonna get it.’ I'm a firm believer in karma, and that motherfucker is going to get what he deserves, eventually. That man will be caught, he'll go to jail, and he'll be raped. So rape me, do it, get it over with. Because you're gonna get it worse."
